• Shrinkage and expansion cause moisture penetration and checking in pole tops. Add organic matter, and pole tops become ideal homes for germinating fungal spores and eventual decay.
• With freezing, excessive moisture can split and crack open the tops, reducing the primary load carrying area.
• Pole-top decay puts insulator pins, mounting brackets and other pole-top hardware at risk.
• COBRA^TMCap sheds rain and snow from the pole-top. Its design allows for a moderate amount of airflow underneath the cap to ensure the pole remains homeostatic or at equilibrium moisture content. It functions like clay tiles on a roof in a typical home.

• To install, remove the reinspection lid, nail to pole top through the nail slots provided and snap the lid closed.
• COBRA^TMCap allows for future reinspection of pole tops and incorporation of Cobra products. It has a unique compartment to hold water-soluble COBRA^TMRods, discs or wafers. The lid of this compartment can be removed periodically for inspection and reapplication of preservative.
