Outperforming
all the others
- PostGuardTM/COBRATMRod
will
significantly extend the service life of all types of wood, including
wood poles. This highly concentrated glass rod outperforms by a factor
of 2 to 1 all other liquid water-soluble wood preservatives, which
tend to leach rapidly.
- PostGuardTM/COBRATMRod's
active ingredients are internationally recognized and approved as
preservatives by CWPA, AWPA and BWPA.
We've got the right stuff
- PostGuardTM/COBRATMRod's
borates are considered one of the chemical groups effective in controlling
and stopping fungal decay and many insects - at concentrations that
are not even close to poisonous for humans and other mammals.
- PostGuardTM/COBRATMRods
have a unique combination of active ingredients which, unlike all
others, give protection against both fungal families, basidiomycetes
and ascomycetes.
- PostGuardTM/COBRATMRods
activate at 23% to 30% moisture levels, the same levels at which decay
begins in wood.

Easy installation
PostGuardTM/COBRATMRods
are clean to handle, leaving no chalky residue on hands or clothing. They
also resist breakage and are applied in drilling patterns that preserve pole strength. Manufacturer's recommendations and PMRA/EPA label
directions guide the installation of the rods. In brief, the steps are:
- drill the least diameter possible hole
to accommodate pre-determined number and diameter of PostGuardTM/COBRATMRods
- insert suitable size and
number of rods
- seal holes with treated plugs

How PostGuardTM / COBRATMRod Works
|
|
 |
Soon after
a post is installed, the above ground wood dries and checks,
exposing the untreated interior wood and the onset of rot
at the ground line is inevitable. Fungal attack cannot occur
in dry wood with less than 20% moisture content (MC). Wood
at the groundline is usually above 25%MC and with the combination
of air (oxygen), temperature and food source (wood) the conditions
for fungal spore growth are perfect.
|
|
 |
Liquid
preservatives treat the surface wood. Even pressure treated
lumber only penetrates to 1/4 inch into the wood surface leaving
the core of the lumber unprotected.
These
solutions are also hazardous and CCA treated lumber will soon
be banned for public use because of environmental concerns
and the presence of highly toxic amounts of arsenic.
|
|
 |
The PostGuardTM / COBRATMRod
is installed inside the post at the ground level to protect the entire
wood member at this most susceptible area.. It's safe to handle and is
made entirely of a unique Boron and Copper Hydroxide complex.
These compounds are
melted and fused into the form of a solid glass-like rod, which begins
to dissolve with moisture in the wood and travels throughout the entire
wood section at the groundline zone. PostGuardTM / COBRATMRod will arrest
early stages of decay and set up a defensive protection for years.

PostGuardTM
/ COBRATMRod's can also be used in landscape timbers, deck joists and posts
and other places where moisture is present. |

Safe
To Handle - Easy To Install
|
|
 |
All you
need to install PostGuardTM / COBRATMRod is a hammer, a drill and a 1/2 inch
drill bit.
|
|
 |
A hole
is drilled right at ground level into the centre of the post.
Begin drilling at a level angle. Once the bit is established,
tilt the angle downward at a 45 degree angle.
|
|
 |
Place
the rod into the hole by hand. Never force or hammer the rod
itself to avoid shattering.
|
|
 |
Place
the plug over the hole and tap it home with a hammer to seal
the hole. |
|
PostGuardTM/COBRATM
Rods
- outperform all other rods
- use safe, effective borates, which activate at the critical moisture
level
- are easily installed
